NCCLS Announces Availability of New Guideline on Evaluation of Precision Performance of Quantitative Measurement Methods

This document, Evaluation of Precision Performance of Quantitative Measurement Methods; Approved Guideline–Second Edition (EP5-A2), provides guidance and procedures for evaluating the precision of in vitro diagnostics devices and includes recommendations for manufacturers in evaluating their devices and methods when establishing performance claims.  Included are guidelines for the duration, procedures, materials, data summaries, and interpretation techniques that are adaptable for the widest possible range of analytes and device complexity.

NCCLS Announces Availability of New Guideline on Application of a Quality System Model for Inpatient Medication Use

This document, Application of a Quality System Model for Inpatient Medication Use; Approved Guideline (HS10-A), provides the necessary background information and infrastructure to develop a quality system that will meet healthcare quality objectives and be consistent with the quality objectives of each institution.  This guideline provides a structure for a comprehensive, systematic approach to build quality into the pharmacy service’s processes, assess its performance, and implement quality improvements.

This document, Fluorescence Calibration and Quantitative Measurement of Fluorescence Intensity; Approved Guideline (I/LA24-A), describes the basic principles, reference materials, and laboratory procedures upon which quantitative fluorescence calibration is based.

NCCLS Announces Availability of New Guideline on Proficiency Testing for Molecular Methods

This document, Proficiency Testing for Molecular Methods; Proposed Guideline (MM14-P), is to complement currently available regulatory and guidance documents regarding the management and operations of proficiency testing programs.  It will also serve clinical laboratories with a benchmark for evaluation of new programs or, taken in principle, to guide their own program development when necessary.  Specific sections discuss the design of materials, assignment of target result, distribution, receipt and evaluation of data, and reporting responsibilities.
