NCCLS’s method of standards development is through the consensus process – a unique, carefully designed process of development, evaluation, and involvement to assure consideration of all views. The result is a document that is accepted by all interested parties as the best practice, because it has been fairly and widely evaluated and tested. Consensus is the core strength of NCCLS. By using its unique consensus process, recognized worldwide, NCCLS meets the needs of its member organizations and other constituents in the industry, government, and professional sectors by managing the production of practical and timely information and resources that promote quality products and practices. NCCLS is committed to maintain the integrity of and to improve the consensus process for more efficient, timely development of the most needed projects.
