Over the past 5 years LTO has evolved into a true success story in the laboratory profession, receiving over 1 million visits per month, and supported by 17 major laboratory professional societies with funding from sponsoring companies in the diagnostics industry. The appointment requirements are to prepare for and participate in a one hour teleconference every-other week with the principle purpose of developing for posting to the LTO website information about clinical laboratory tests and how they relate to diagnosis and treatment of disease. A strong clinical laboratory background is required. However, there is no expectation to be knowledgeable about all testing analytes being reviewed. Education at the PhD or MD level is required.
