CLSI document, Genotyping for Infectious Diseases: Identification and Characterization; Proposed Guideline (MM10-P), provides guidance for the development and use of genotyping methods, such as DNA sequencing, single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) detection, and real-time target amplification techniques of target sequences specific to particular microorganisms, and presents recommendations for quality assurance, proficiency testing, and interpretation of results.

Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) Announces New Guideline for Specimen Collection/Handling for Nucleic Acid Analysis

Collection, Transport, Preparation, and Storage of Specimens for Molecular Methods; Proposed Guideline (MM13-P), a CLSI/International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) jointly developed document, describes general principles for ensuring optimal specimen collection, recommends storage and transport conditions, and provides guidance on nucleic acid isolation and purification.

Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) Announces New Guideline for Protection of Laboratory Workers

CLSI document, Protection of Laboratory Workers From Occupationally Acquired Infections; Approved Guideline—Third Edition (M29-A3), promotes safe laboratory practices to protect workers from the risk of transmission of infectious agents in the workplace by aerosols, droplets, blood, and body substances. These practices include standard precautions, safety devices, personal protective equipment, and decontamination and disposal of biohazardous waste.
