Introducing Key to Quality Checklists

A series of 12 handy reference Checklists, available in tablet format, which focus on laboratory quality system essentials (QSEs) to ensure you are documenting, implementing, and monitoring best-practice laboratory procedures and performance to facilitate compliance and accreditation.

The following Checklists are available for $15 for members and $30 for nonmembers:

Documents and Records (CK QSE 1):  This Checklist will help the laboratory determine if the appropriate policies, processes, and procedures for documents and records are generated.

Organization (CK QSE 2): This Checklist will help to assure that the organization’s management has accomplished the objectives needed to improve operations and services to customers by supporting the establishment and maintenance of the quality management system.

Personnel (CK QSE 3): This Checklist will help the laboratory follow policies and processes for obtaining and retaining highly qualified personnel.

Equipment (CK QSE 4):  This Checklist will help ensure that general and service-specific equipment, instruments, and analytical systems, as well as computer system hardware and software, are maintained and procedures are being followed.

Purchasing and Inventory (CK QSE 5): The Checklist will help confirm the major requirements for purchasing and inventory are being met to assure efficient and cost-effective operations.

Process Control (CK QSE 6): The Checklist will help assess work operations.

Information Management (CK QSE 7): This Checklist will help define the steps needed to manage the flow of information within the organization and with external entities.

Occurrence Management (CK QSE 8): This Checklist focuses on assessing systems that have been put in place to capture and analyze information on nonconforming events to identify systematic problems and remove their causes.

Assessments—External and Internal (CK QSE 9): This Checklist focuses on assessing the effectiveness of an organization's quality management system.

Process Improvement (CK QSE 10): This Checklist will help determine if the laboratory has followed the necessary steps to identify needed improvements.

Customer Service (CK QSE 11):  This Checklist will help assess customer service and satisfaction.

Facilities and Safety (CK QSE 12): This Checklist will help determine if steps have been taken to establish and maintain a safe, efficient environment that  is in compliance with requirements and standards.
