CLSI Releases Reference Method for Leukocyte Differential Count and Evaluation of Instrumental Methods
Wayne, Pennsylvania, USA—February 2007— Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI, formerly NCCLS) recently published a document, Reference Leukocyte (WBC) Differential Count (Proportional) and Evaluation of Instrumental Methods; Approved Standard—Second Edition (H20-A2), which evaluates automated and semiautomated hematology instruments for their capability to perform an acceptable leukocyte (WBC) differential count. In the document, a statistical method is also outlined, allowing for the determination of the performance of the test method in qualitative, as well as quantitative abnormalities.

CLSI Publishes New Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing Standard for Anaerobic Bacteria
Wayne, Pennsylvania, USA—February 2007— Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI, formerly NCCLS) has recently published an updated standard, Methods for Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing of Anaerobic Bacteria; Approved Standard—Seventh Edition (M11-A7), which provides reference methods for the determination of minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of anaerobic bacteria by agar dilution and broth microdilution. The document is complete with updated tables for antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) of anaerobic bacteria.
