Executive Vice President's Message
New Year's Greetings
Well, the holidays are over and the new year is a reality. This is the time of year when many of us make resolutions, set goals, and plan for the future. I anticipate 2007 will be an eventful year for Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI).
We will kick off the year with the publication of one of our most popular documents, Performance Standards for Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing; Seventeenth Informational Supplement (M100-S17), which provides updates of the latest recommendations for detection of emerging resistance of aerobic bacteria and will be available in early January.
We’re also excited about the publication of a new quality management system product called The Key to Quality, which is scheduled for release this month. Based on the overwhelming positive feedback from those who evaluated a prototype of this practical and easy-to-use product, it should prove to be a valued resource to help laboratories create and maintain a quality management system based on CLSI’s 12 well-recognized Quality System Essentials.
This is also a time of intense planning and preparation for our upcoming leadership conference and workshop scheduled for 18 – 20 April in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. This year’s one-day workshop, Facing the Challenge: Practical Approaches to Evaluate Analytical Performance, on Friday, 20 April will provide useful information about evaluation protocols for clinical and laboratory professionals, manufacturers involved in verifying, validating, troubleshooting, and supporting laboratory test systems, representatives from regulatory and accrediting organizations, and students in clinical laboratory sciences.
As I look further ahead for 2007, I know I can count on the unflagging support of our global members, volunteers, and partners to help us continue our commitment to advancing quality in healthcare testing.
I wish you all a very Happy New Year.
Sincerely,
Glen
