Executive Vice President's Message
Getting the Word Out – Education
I want to take this opportunity to discuss the important role education is playing in helping CLSI communicate the benefits of standards. At the same time, I’d like to thank many of you for your past efforts toward achieving this goal and to ask for your continued support. As we all know, educational opportunities exist in many forms, including by-lined articles in professional and trade journals, newsletters, face-to-face lectures, workshops, poster sessions, and electronic media such as via audio-conferences, webinars, and other Internet-based forums. Our volunteers have been tireless in advocating CLSI. In fact, during the past six months, CLSI has been cited in articles more than 60 times and featured in an equivalent number of lectures. One example was the CLMA meeting I recently attended in Charlotte, NC. An excellent session on the topic “Critical Components for Assuring Quality in Laboratory Testing” was given to a crowded audience by volunteers Lucia Berte, Rick Miller, and Roberta Madej. The rush to our booth the following day, for documents related to the presentation, was evidence that the message had been effectively delivered to the right audience.
One of the goals in next year’s strategic plan is to more effectively deliver our full spectrum of content to increase our visibility and fulfill our mission. With outstanding member organizations and individual volunteers, we are excited about the possibilities for leveraging your energy to achieve this goal. To support your efforts on our behalf, we recently created a CLSI Speaker’s Toolkit PowerPoint presentation. If you have not received a copy, please contact customerservice@clsi.org or download a copy from our website at www.clsi.org (under the education section).
Your input toward achieving our goal of enhanced visibility is always welcome.
I look forward to seeing you at the Leadership Conference and Workshop in Vienna, Virginia this month.
Glen
