Recovery and Identification of Parasites From the Intestinal Tract (M28-A2); User Verification of Performance for Precision and Trueness (EP15-A2); Performance of the Bleeding Time Test (H45-A2)

Procedures for the Recovery and Identification of Parasites From the Intestinal Tract; Approved Guideline—Second Edition (M28-A2) Now Available From CLSI

M28-A2 is a guideline for the collection, processing, and examination of intestinal tract specimens for the rapid and accurate identification of parasites, including specimen collection, handling techniques, diagnostic tests, result reporting, and specific diagnostic techniques for parasitic infections.  This updated guideline includes:
    • newer technologies;
    • diagnostic kits that detect specific organism antigens;
    • appropriate definitions;
    • modified acid-fast staining techniques;
    • modified trichrome staining methods;
    • expanded section on fecal immunoassays and gene probes,
    • additional information on chemofluorescent agents; and
    • specific ordering options.

User Verification of Performance for Precision and Trueness; Approved Guideline—Second Edition (EP15-A2) Now Available From CLSI

EP15-A2 is designed for use in a variety of laboratory settings, from the point-of-care or physician’s office laboratory to the large clinical laboratory. The protocol is nonetheless sufficiently rigorous to provide statistically valid conclusions for verification studies.  The document includes a five-day testing protocol and simplified worksheets for all data gathering; statistical calculations; and tests of observed precision and trueness. A computer spreadsheet is provided to simplify and standardize the statistical calculations and tests of observed precision and trueness.  Primarily intended for use when an established method is initially set up in the laboratory, EP15-A2 can also be used to verify method performance after corrective action following a failed proficiency testing event.

Performance of the Bleeding Time Test; Approved Guideline—Second Edition
(H45-A2) Now Available From CLSI

H45-A2 introduces the most current guidelines for performing the template procedure of the bleeding time test.  By controlling the length and depth of the incision, the template procedure of the bleeding time test improves reproducibility.  However, this type of test remains affected by a number of variables.  H45-A2 enables the user to mitigate the effects of these variables by outlining the materials and methods used in the test’s performance; the variables that can affect the test; and recommendations for performance of the test to further improve reproducibility and accuracy. This revised edition includes photographs that have been updated to reflect current safety practices.  The document furthermore includes new definitions consistent with CLSI’s terminological harmonization policy.
