Latest Recommendations for Glucose Monitoring in Settings Without Laboratory Support (AST4-A2) Now Available From Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI, formerly NCCLS)
An increasing amount of blood glucose tests are conducted outside the laboratory, in chaotic, high-pressure hospital environments, where accuracy and exigency are at constant odds. Improper procedures for using blood glucose meters produce inaccurate results, putting the patient at risk. AST4-A2 provides recommendations in a straightforward Q-and-A format, designed for easy use in workplaces where time and results are in high demand. Included are administrative structure, operator authorization, test system selection, test procedure, and quality assurance, as well as samples of a written evaluation and quality control logs.
